For Artists Who Love the Outdoors

Okanagan Life
A Shake-up of the Landscape
Fisherman’s Wharf, Victoria Shore Watch

Here are four pieces I have completed since returning from Victoria in early February. There’s a fifth on its way which has also worked its way into this blog. What is it that has provided this sudden rush of creativity? Quite simply, a new horizon. Winter has settled in around Calgary, even with daylight saving being reintroduced tomorrow morning. We’re still wading through snow each new day.
But Vancouver Island is awake to spring, or at least it was a month ago. And it stirs my blood to see greenery again, and it ocean bays and harbour life. It gives me energy every morning to begin anew with another new piece on my easel.
How neat is that? Just move your location for a week and you come back all excited! The snow is sill piled outside my window, but it’s not interfering with my artistic drive in the slightest. Oh, and the fifth piece. Here it is in its current state as a watercolour. I’m also working on a gouache version too. Both of these paintings come from an earlier visit to Okanagan in central BC.
