While It's on my Mind

I have a set of sketches from our Alaska cruise in October which I've neglected to post, so I thought I'd put them up now, before they get lost in the shuffle. The cruise was up the Inside Passage from Vancouver to Juneau and Skagway, the last one of the season for our ship. The weather was just thinking of turning, but most days were great for hiking and being outdoors generally. Alaska is a beautiful state, rugged and untamed. While the "call of the wild' may not appeal to everyone, there's enough of us who heed it to ensure full seasons for tourist industry, Alaska's largest source of income I suspect.

Getting there through northern BC's majestic coastline is no slouch either. While we cruised up the Inside Passage I kept thinking of Toni Onley's wounderful paintings of BC, plein air work which he accomplished by flying his own plane around the province to capture the beauty of Canada's west coast. I hope you find time to look at Toni Onley's legacy to British Columbia.

Enjoy these quick sketches of mine from the cruise and if you feel the call of the wild, answer it!
